The Media Makeup Course + 1 Year Mentorship
This makeup course is completely different from any other makeup school, makeup classes, or makeup workshops anywhere in the Southeast. Why? Because you have a Professional Makeup Artist with more than 20 years of experience (10 years of that experience focused on the commercial side of the Industry) to mentor you (via Video Conference, Phone Calls, Emails) after completing your classroom hours and homework assignments for one full year from your start date!! In addition, these classes are taught in a private makeup studio setting that emulates real life instead of a typical classroom.
Due to the private mentorship style of this course and the close relationships developed due to that style as well as the unique situation where the Mentor is inviting the students into her home - there is an approval process to be accepted into this program prior to paying the tuition. Once you have made the decision to register and are ready to make the 1st tuition payment - you will need to submit your registration form and then schedule your admissions interview. If accepted, then the first tuition payment is due at that time in order to reserve your seat. These classes are kept very small, limited to eight students per session and only two sessions per year. It is important to the Mentor to keep the classes very small in order to work one-on-one with each student as needed.
Students pay for and attend class six consecutive Mondays from 10am until 4pm. Each of the six Mondays will start with 1/2 day of "theory" presented in a PowerPoint Presentation along with the Work Book. The second 1/2 of each training day is "practical" and includes a makeup application demonstration by the instructor and hands-on practice by the students. Makeup Artists of all skill levels (beginner to advanced) can benefit from this series of classes. With the money making ideas and marketing techniques shared in this course - even the advanced artist can increase her revenue with the knowledge gained. Students will be given homework assignments to complete prior to the next Monday. Please understand that there is a lot of homework to complete during the week including reading pages from your workbook and practicing the makeup application you learned in class plus more.

Week One: The Basic Fundamentals of Makeup
Color Theory is one of the principal foundations of everything that the makeup artist does. Successfully recognizing and matching a client's skin tone and underlying tones, good corrective and camouflage makeup, enhancing or complementing natural coloring, all relies on color as much as makeup application techniques. Also, understanding what colors cancel each other out are essential for color corrections in makeup application. Skills in contouring and highlighting are also essential in building a good solid foundation in your makeup application. This workshop covers all of those basics and will have you finish your hands-on practice with a natural makeup look.
Contouring & Highlight
Concealer & Corrective Makeup
Basic Beauty Makeup Application (eyes, cheeks, lips)
Class will begin with a brief PowerPoint Presentation followed by a demonstration by the Instructor and then students will pair up to practice on each other. Students do not need to bring anything to class as everything needed is supplied by Instructor.
Week Two: The Business of Bridal & Special Occasions Makeup
Week Two the primary focus is on makeup for weddings; however, we will be covering several makeup application techniques that are important for all specialties of makeup applications, not just weddings. For example: lash enhancement is covered in this class but this is a skill that is needed for working in the fashion industry as well. After completing this week (one day in classroom and weekly homework assignments) you will have a complete understanding of: how to market yourself in the bridal market; how to handle the business end including accepting payments and giving receipts; how to schedule and conduct a trial run; lash enhancements; makeup for mature skin; grooming for men; and more.
Week Three: Portfolio Building plus Makeup for Fashion and Photography
Students will build upon their knowledge of basic makeup application with more advanced techniques, advanced eye makeup techniques, an understanding of how makeup looks on camera as well as walk away with a clear direction for building their portfolios. Class will begin with a PowerPoint Presentation followed by a demonstration by the Instructor and then students will pair up to practice on each other. After completing this week (one day in classroom and weekly homework assignments) you will have a complete understanding of the basics of makeup for fashion and photography and a clear understanding of testing and building your portfolio.
Week Four: Basic Airbrush plus Intro to Hi-Def Makeup
This class is great for the beginner airbrush artist or someone needing to freshen up their airbrush skills. In the morning session of this class students will learn the difference between the single and dual action airbrushes, correct application using dashes and dots, airbrush equipment maintenance, trouble shooting and hands-on practice on face charts. In the afternoon session - students will pair up and practice airbrush makeup applications on each other.
Week Five: Advanced Airbrush and Hi-Def Makeup for TV Commercials and Video Productions
Week Five the primary focus is on makeup for TV and video productions; however, we will be covering several makeup application techniques that are important for all specialties of makeup applications, not just television. For example: the makeup artist that perfects her techniques for hi-definition will never need her work photoshop corrected for print advertising jobs and other photography; therefore becoming the photographer's first choice for booking. After completing this week (one day in classroom and weekly homework assignments) you will have a complete understanding of the artistic and technical skills necessary to become a working media makeup artist. Whether you want to do makeup on television commercials, or video productions, this makeup class will prepare you with the skills needed for makeup applications for HDTV as well as regular TV makeup.
